Below is a collection of various documents, research papers and articles that focus on gender bias in medicine. The texts listed here are handpicked by our committee and highly applicable to currently topical issues within medicine. Many of them supplement UCL Medical School's curriculum and can be used to bolster scheduled university content.  We hope you find them to be educating, and are open to any of your recommendations!

Women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Many stereotypes and myths help perpetuate this GAP.

Over centuries gender bias in medicine specifically against women has lead to many avoidable negative patient outcomes. Gabrielle Jackson of the Guardian goes into detail in an article she has written.

Clare Marx, former chair of the GMC and UCLMS alumni discussing in a BMJ article how outdated beliefs about women in medicine can severely affect not only our colleagues but our patients also.

Professor Dame Jane Dacre, a UCLMS alumni and former president of the Royal College of Physicians, led an independent review into the Gender Pay gaps in Medicine in England.

Rima Chakrabarti, who is the chair of the Gender Equality group at UCLMS EDI has been leading on the development of UCLMS' strategic plan for tackling 'Misogyny and Gender Based Violence.' This plan will help to drive sustained and meaningful changes within the medical school in relation to some hugely topical issues.
