Shem Braithwaite

Hello I’m Shem, I’m the co-chair of the EDI committee with Beth. I have been on the EDI Committee since my second year at UCL and it has been one of the highlights of my time here. I have learned so much from being on this committee and have had the opportunity to meet amazing people and work on great projects. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is something really close to my heart, the committee is doing great work and I cannot wait to see what is in store. Every student regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, impairment and background deserve to feel happy and safe, not just at UCLMS but everywhere. All students should feel like they belong, they are respected and they are valued and they are feel to be themselves not just by this institution but by all individuals. We are working to make this a reality at every level and ensure that we do not just leave the medical school as better scientists or clinicians but also as better people, as better human beings.
